Rolo, a lively one-year-old French Bulldog, arrived at Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter in August, just 10 months old at the time. He came to us with limited control over his back legs, but this didn’t slow him down one bit. Rolo would tear around the agility pen at full speed, his spirit completely undeterred by his condition. Our vets suspected he had spinal issues, though they didn’t seem to cause him any discomfort. To protect his legs from dragging, Rolo was even fitted with his own little shoes, which helped him move comfortably and safely—making him the fashion icon of the Shelter.
During his time with us, Rolo quickly became a favourite. He relished any chance to spend time in the agility pens, darting around with pure joy. Visitors loved meeting him and were drawn to his lively personality and boundless energy.
After some time in our care, Rolo went into foster with a family who had plenty of time and love to give him. Now renamed Bryn, he’s thriving with extra support, including regular hydrotherapy sessions to strengthen his muscles and keep him active.
In his new home, Bryn has also gained a brother, Draig, and the two have formed a special bond. Their relationship is blossoming, even with the occasional playful squabble that sometimes gets on Draig’s nerves. Yet, when they’re separated, both Bryn and Draig cry to be reunited, showing just how close they’ve grown.
Bryn’s story is one of resilience and finding the right place to flourish. With a family that truly cares and a brother who’s become his best friend, he’s living his best life, just as he deserves. He’s simply just rolling with it.
Help more animals like Bryn find the support and love they need to thrive. Your support makes these happy endings possible.
