Hamish is looking for an adult only home, or a home with older children only (14+). He will require outdoor access once settled.

Hamish is a sweet but very shy and timid boy who has spent most of his time at the shelter being afraid and unsure of people.  Hamish was born outside, and although his mum wasn’t feral and he was fed outside he had very limited interaction with people in his early life.  When he was brought into the shelter he was very overwhelmed by it all, having spent his life living outside and without people, he responded by letting the staff know he was very scared and unhappy with the situation!

After having his ear tipped and being neutered it was hoped that Hamish would find a nice farm to go too where he could live outdoors, however, over the course of a few weeks Hamish has really started to come out of his shell! Hamish started to approach staff cautiously but without hissing, and then started asking for pets and was even purring away sometimes!!! He has been such a brave young boy overcoming his fears and letting the staff see what a sweet little lad he really is!

He is still quite nervous, especially with sudden movements or sounds but he recovers quickly from any little shocks now and comes straight back for more attention.  Hamish would suit a home with plenty of outdoor access for him to roam and have the space he needs from people should he want it, however the option should be there for him to be able to come indoors and have some attention if that’s what he likes!  A home with older children who understand his need for patience and space is important as he definitely needs to come around to new people on his own terms!  Hamish’s new home will be lucky to get to see his personality flourish as he becomes more comfortable and confident!
