Join Team Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter at the world’s biggest and best half-marathon, starting in the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, taking you across the iconic Tyne Bridge through Gateshead, to the stunning coastline in South Shields.

By joining Team Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter at the 2025 Great North Run, you will be supporting us in helping dogs and cats across the North East find their loving forever families.

Why should you run for Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter?

• By running for us in the 2025 Great North Run, you’ll be supporting the work of Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter and raising vital funds to go towards important costs like our veterinary bills, heating bills, food, and general animal care costs
• You will receive a Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter running t-shirt or vest to wear on the big day to keep you cool and comfortable and help you look the part!
• You will have the option to purchase a commemorative hoodie for £10, to be collected at the end of the run, to keep you warm and comfortable on your journey home and to keep as a reminder of your incredible achievement!
• You will receive an information pack with fundraising ideas to help you reach your target, and our Community Fundraising Officer will be available to support your fundraising efforts every step of the way
• You’ll have the opportunity to visit the Shelter for our Great North Run Coffee Morning for refreshments and treats as a thanks from us, where you will get to chat with our team and meet some of the wonderful animals in our care
• Our Fundraising Team will be waiting at the end of the run to cheer you on and celebrate your incredible achievement!

You can either join our team by registering for one of our charity places or with your own place through the Great North Run ballot or membership. We ask that you raise a minimum of £275 through fundraising and sponsorship. Our registration fee* is currently at an early birds discounted rate of £50 and will be £55 from February onwards. 

(*The registration fee is non-refundable once you have accepted your place at the event)
