The Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter recently received a heartfelt donation of £500 in memory of Claire Louise Johnson, a fervent animal enthusiast whose love for our furry friends knew no bounds.
Claire Louise passed away in November 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a deep-rooted love for animals. Known affectionately among her friends and family as a “crazy cat lady,” Claire Louise’s passion for our four-legged companions was unparalleled. Her husband Neville and son, Martin, fondly reminisced, “Mam had an immense love for all animals. She always said if she could, she’d turn our home into a sanctuary for lost and strays. This donation is a tribute to her memory and her unwavering compassion for all creatures great and small.”
In an extraordinary gesture of love and remembrance, Claire Louise’s husband, Neville Johnson, made a generous donation of £400 to the Shelter in her honour from funds raised at her funeral. Neville, a respected member of Delaval Lodge (2568), didn’t stop there; with the lodge contributing an additional £50, demonstrating the profound affection and respect he held for his late wife’s memory. The spirit of generosity continued with support from Gavel Lodge, who also contributed £50, joining hands in supporting the cause close to Claire Louise’s heart and increasing the total donation to £500.
The Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter extends its deepest gratitude to the Johnson family, Delaval Lodge, Gavel Lodge, and all who contributed. These donations will directly support the Shelter’s mission to provide a safe haven for animals in need, offering them a second chance at life and happiness. The legacy of Claire Louise Johnson lives on through this act of kindness, echoing her profound love for animals and her belief in compassion and empathy towards all living beings.
As we remember Claire Louise, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact one person’s love and passion can have on the world. The Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter is committed to carrying forward her legacy, ensuring that each animal that comes through our doors feels the warmth of her spirit.
