At Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, the generous support from Trusts and Foundations plays a vital role in our ability to continue both our essential maintenance work and the ongoing services that directly impact the lives of countless animals in need.
We are truly grateful to the Pets Foundation for their incredibly generous donation of £10,000. This funding will be instrumental in covering the costs of vital veterinary treatments for the animals in our care, ensuring they continue to receive the medical attention they need to live healthy and happy lives.
Amy Angus, Head of Charity and Community at the Pets Foundation said: “We are thrilled to award Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter with a grant of £10,000 towards their vital work in providing veterinary care for animals in need. This funding will make a significant difference in the lives of countless animals, and we are proud to support their continued dedication to animal welfare.
One dog in particular that this grant has helped with is the lovely Yoko, our 8 year old Shar-pei, who has been with us since April 2024. When Yoko arrived into our care, she was suffering from a mild skin condition alongside chronic eye and ear issues which would
require extensive vet treatments and operations. With the help of the Pets foundation grant, we have been able to provide the treatment that Yoko desperately needed and she is now pain free and on the road to recovery to start a new life in her forever home.
