Purpose of the role:

Our volunteer cat carers support our cat team and ensure all health and welfare needs are met.

You will support our cat team in the day to day running of our cattery with high standards of cleaning that contributes to better wellbeing for our cats.

Responsible to:

Animal Welfare Supervisor

Main Duties:

Feeding cats (following strict diet controls where in place)

Changing and cleaning litter trays

Cleaning cat bed areas

Cleaning cat pens, sweeping up debris

Keeping walkways clean and sanitised

Stocking up all supplies needed daily

Ensuring cattery kitchens are clean and hygienic

Topping up and changing water

Communicate with others to report any changes or concerns in our cats

Organising shelter donations into dedicated storage areas

Skills and Qualifications:

You will need to be able to work to a framework and follow procedures that are designed to ensure animal and volunteer safety.

Previous animal husbandry experience is helpful, especially with cats.

The role can be physically demanding so being fit and healthy is beneficial

An understanding of cross contamination is preferred but not essential

An ability to work well with others and communicate with the wider team as well as working independently

Enthusiasm and good team working skills.

Time Commitment:

We are looking for volunteers for a 4-hour period 9am and 1pm, on a set day each week

On occasion we may ask you to help at shelter fundraising events outside of these hours, if you are able to do so
