Volunteer Groomer
Purpose of the role:
To provide grooming to animals in our care to ensure they have a clean mat free coat, ensuring the animals are comfortable and well-groomed. Grooming services can include brushing, bathing, trimming, and nail clipping.
Responsible to:
Head of Animal Welfare
Main Duties:
- Offer professional grooming services.
- Ensure animals receive correct grooming to maintain their health and hygiene.
- Tailor grooming services to meet the specific needs of each animal, whether it’s a haircut, full de-matt, bath, nail trim, or ear cleaning.
- Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for animals during the grooming process.
Skills and Qualifications:
We are seeking groomers with expertise in grooming dogs and/or cats. Animals may require a full groom with de-matting or just a bath, brushing, and tidying up.
Our priority is to find seasoned groomers who can provide services to assist the animals under our care.
Since some dogs may be anxious, uneasy, or frightened, prior experience working with dogs is crucial.
You will need to be able to work to a framework and follow procedures that are designed to ensure animal and volunteer safety.
Enthusiasm and good team working skills.

Time Commitment:
We are seeking groomers who can commit to a specific day each week or month for consistent grooming and maintenance services. Alternatively, we are also interested in groomers who are available on short notice for urgent grooming cases.
Please note you must be aged 18 or over to volunteer.

We ask all our volunteers to comply with all our shelter policies and procedures and upon starting your volunteering with us we will both sign a volunteer agreement.
